Agguttinni Park Office and Visitors Centre
Clyde River, Nunavut
Entering Construction 2022
This project is a milestone in the long story of Agguttinni Park. The Park Office and Visitors’ centre will welcome tourists from around the world to the park and will also provide space for events and educational activities for community members.
The design team sought to make the most of the local environmental conditions. Wind deflectors are used as a tunnel, redirecting snow to form a crescent shaped-drift downhill from the site. The intent behind this is to keep the foundations and underside of the building clear from snow - and, more importantly, to create a new tobogganing hill for kids in the community.
The park office program includes a shower and kitchen area for park visitors returning from a trek.
