CMHC Housing Design Catalogue
Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut
2025
TAG led the northern design team for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Housing Design Catalogue. The catalogue offers low-rise home designs that align with building codes, planning and zoning requirements, typical lot sizes, climate zones and construction materials and methods in various regions of Canada. The intention is to make home-building faster and easier for builders and communities.
TAG collaborated on this project with LGA Architectural Partners, who served as the Prime Consultant. The TAG team was responsible for designing homes for the North – including Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Overall, our team developed designs for four housing typologies: accessory dwelling units (ADUs), rowhouses, fourplexes and sixplexes. For each typology, different variations were developed to accommodate various site servicing contexts. Flexibility and adaptability were also incorporated into the designs in terms of accessibility requirements, number of bedrooms, parking requirements, orientation and location of roads and utility connections, materials, foundation systems, structural load conditions, and energy performance requirements.
Architectural design packages will be made available on the Housing Design Catalogue website.
