Water's Edge Park
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
Completed in 2014
Water’s Edge Park is an intimate public space located on the east shore of Frame Lake in the Legislative Assembly Precinct. The park is designed to fit seamlessly into the natural landscape, incorporating local stone pavers into meandering pathways and gathering spaces. A new ceremonial circle provides a dedicated area for fire feeding ceremonies that are regularly performed at the Legislative Assembly, and incorporates a sunken fire pit that can be closed off when not in use.
The park is truly a “Place of the People”, designed to provide a space for residents and visitors alike to relax and enjoy a piece of the natural landscape of the Northwest Territories.
Awarded 1st Place: Public Spaces, 2015 NWTAA Architectural Awards
